Study ObjectiveTo assess if women with obesity have increased complication rates compared normal weight undergoing hysterectomy for benign reasons and the mode of affects outcomes.DesignCohort study.SettingProspectively collected data from 3 Swedish population-based registers.PatientsWomen a total indications in Sweden between January 1, 2015, December 31, 2017. The patients were grouped according to World Health Organization's classification obesity.InterventionsIntraoperative postoperative retrieved surgical register up 1 year after hysterectomy. Different modes compared, such as open abdominal (AH), traditional laparoscopic (TLH), vaginal (VH), robot-assisted (RTLH).Measurements Main ResultsOut 12,386 who had during study period, we identified 2787 1535 (body mass index ≥30). One hysterectomy, frequency complications was higher than (adjusted odds ratio [aOR]) 1.4; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.1–1.8). In obesity, AH associated overall rate (aOR 1.8; CI, 1.2–2.6) VH slightly risk intraoperative 4.4; 1.2–15.8), both comparison RTLH. Robotic-Assisted Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Versus Conventional Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

OBJECTIVES To compare patient characteristics, operative variables, and outcomes of 24 patients who underwent robotic-assisted total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) with 44 patients who underwent conventional TLH. We retrospectively reviewed the charts of 44 patients with TLH and 24 patients with robotic TLH. RESULTS Robotic TLH was associated with a shorter hospital stay (1.0 vs 1.4 days, P=...

Surgical Outcomes of Robotic Radical Hysterectomy Using Three Robotic Arms versus Conventional Multiport Laparoscopy in Patients with Cervical Cancer

PURPOSE To compare surgical outcomes of robotic radical hysterectomy (RRH) using 3 robotic arms with those of conventional laparoscopy in patients with early cervical cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective cohort study included 102 patients with stage 1A1-IIA2 cervical carcinoma, of whom 60 underwent robotic and 42 underwent laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (LRH) with pelvic lymph nod...

Analysis of postoperative pain in robotic versus traditional laparoscopic hysterectomy.

The aim of this study was to assess postoperative pain and narcotic use in the first 23 h following robotic versus traditional laparoscopic hysterectomy for benign pathology. The study design was that of a retrospective case-control study of robotic (first 100 consecutive) versus traditional (last 100 consecutive) total laparoscopic hysterectomy cases at an obstetrics and gynecology multi-insti...

Effects of jazz on postoperative pain and stress in patients undergoing elective hysterectomy.

CONTEXT Anesthesiologists use various medications to provide surgical patients with pain relief in the postoperative period. Other modalities, such as music, could be used in conjunction with opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to decrease pain and lower heart rate and blood pressure. Our hypothesis was that patients listening to jazz in a postanesthesia care unit (PACU) w...
